| ELEPHANT-VAC VACUUM SYSTEM | |
|---|---|
SYSTEM TYPE: |
All Elephant-Vacs employ the same tank-type vacuum system. The impeller drawns air from the top of the tank, creating a vacuum in the tank. In turn, air is drawn into the tank through the suction hose. Debris does not pass through the impeller or self-cleaning, revolving filter screen. |
BAGS: |
Elephant-Vac uses ordinary plastic trash bags. Any bag that fits will work. Official Elephant-Vac bags are made of heavy-weight polyethylene, and are supplied in a cartridge for easy stowing and dispensing. |
LINER: |
Elephant-Vac's bag liner keeps the bag in place during operation. Unlike tapered liners, the Elephant-Vac liner has straight sides for easy withdrawal from the bag during emptying. |
Changing Elephant-Vac's bag takes less than one minute. After releasing the tank from the vacuum head, the tank is tilted back to a 45° angle. Then the liner is withdrawn from the tank, leaving the full bag in the tank. The tank can then be pulled down beyond the 45° catch for easy horizontal removal of the full bag. After placing a new bag over the inverted liner, the bag and liner are re-inserted into the tank, and the tank is closed. |

NON-CLOGGING FILTRATIONSYSTEM: |
Elephant-Vac employs a revolving perforated screen at the top of the tank as its primary filter. The screen is attached to the impeller and spins at 1800 to 4000 RPM, so any debris that may try to clog it is thrown off by centrifugal force. Even when the tank is full, there is no reduction in suction performance. Other systems use a porous bag to collect the debris, similar to a household vacuum. The vacuum air must pass through the debris and bag to be drawn into the bottom mounted impeller. As the bag fills up or becomes clogged with dust, the additional restriction reduces the vacuum performance. |
COMPACTION: |
The vortex action of Elephant-Vac's airflow serves to pack the debris into the bag. This non-mechanical compaction of the debris provides 3 to 5 times the capacity of a hand loaded bag. |
Elephant-Vac's vortex airflow and its use of a top mounted impeller also mean less dust exhausting from the air outlet because the dirt and dust drop to the bottom of the bag. The optional air outlet filter bag is not needed in most applications. When dirt drops to the bottom of the bag in other systems, it is drawn through the porous bag and exhausted out the air outlet. The additional filter bag needed on the air outlet further restricts the vacuum airflow. |

EFFICIENCY: |
Elephant-Vac employs lightweight materials and design for maximum efficiency. Elephant-Vac's 20 horsepower, modern, gasoline engine propels its 1110 pounds to 16 MPH with fuel consumption of approximately one gallon per hour. Other riding litter vacuums' greater weight uses more power, resulting in less operation efficiency. |
BALANCED HOSE-BOOM: |
Elephant-Vac's hose is supported by a balanced spring boom that is easily maneuvered directly by the operator. This intuitive operation enables the operator to pick up scattered debris on the fly while driving. The spring boom is height-adjustable to accomodate uneven operating conditions or to compensate for the heavier hose encountered in wet, dirty conditions. Hydraulically actuated booms requires the operator to maneuver the hose up and down by activation of an electric switch. The operator must stop the vehicle at each piece of debris to maneuver the boom. The hydraulic boom system requires more maintenance and is subject to mechanical failure. Air pressure balanced booms cannot be fine-tuned and are affected by temperature differences. Also, they cannot be adjusted for the heavier hose weight caused by operation in wet, dirty conditions. |
RELIABILITY: |
Elephant-Vac is designed and manufactured to operate under the dirty and strenuous conditions encountered in litter clean-up applications. The equipment has been proven in years of hard, trouble-free use. Hollowell Products Co. has been making Elephant-Vac for over 25 years and is the inventor of this type of equipment. We are proud of our reputation as a customer-first, service oriented company. |
